Authorities reported that two individuals sustained injuries on Sunday evening after their Tesla veered off a freeway overpass in Los Feliz, plunging to the ground and igniting in flames.
The Los Angeles Fire Department disclosed that the vehicle careened from the Riverside Drive freeway overpass, ultimately landing on a concrete center divider on the 134 Freeway. The occupants, identified as a 60-year-old man and a 65-year-old man, managed to exit the vehicle prior to the arrival of firefighters, who found the car fully engulfed.
Both men, whose specific injuries were not revealed, were transported to a trauma center in serious condition via ambulance, as per authorities.
No other injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred shortly before 11 p.m. near the Los Angeles Zoo. Firefighters remained at the scene to extinguish the flames emanating from the vehicle.
Details regarding the cause of the Tesla’s departure from the overpass and its collision with a fence before plummeting onto the freeway, as well as whether excessive speed played a role, were not immediately provided by authorities.
